Syracuse has had a good month of June and Friday morning the Orange landed their eighth commitment in running back/athlete
DeVante McFarlane (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollows Hill West)."l committed to Syracuse this morning," McFarlane said. "I just like what they brought to the table and I felt very comfortable there. It's the place I need to be and they showed me the most love. I really liked them the most."McFarlane is also excited about the progress of the program under coach Doug Marrone."I feel great about coach Marrone and the entire staff," McFarlane said. "They are rebuilding and it's with a lot of New York players. They will win the Big East soon and it will be with a lot of New York players. That's exciting to me."McFarlane, 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, visited Syracuse over the spring for a junior day. He's a versatile athlete who plays running back, receiver, quarterback, outside linebacker, safety and returns punts and kickoffs."I would like to go up there and playing running back," McFarlane. "The plan is to go compete hard and earn the starting job. I love their offense. It's pro-style and I am a downhill guy that can break tackles. If I play defense, I will likely play safety. There, I read the quarterback well, have a good break on the ball and just make plays. I think I am more of a strong safety."McFarlane committed to Syracuse over Vanderbilt and Buffalo.
