Rival recruiters ready to pounce on Texas

Charlie Strong likes to take a slow and steady approach on the recruiting trail, and his patience paid off with a remarkable run this past February that saw the Longhorns finish well ahead of rivals Texas A&M and Oklahoma with the nation’s 10th-ranked recruiting class.

It’s a strategy Strong is trying to use again with the 2017 class, as Texas (3-4) has the second-fewest commitments in the Big 12, ahead of only Baylor and its off-the-field issues. UT has seven pledges but remains in the hunt for some of the Lone Star State’s best talent such asĀ five-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson, No. 2 outside linebacker Baron Browning, top-ranked inside linebacker Anthony Hines III, LSU cornerback commitment Kary Vincent, coveted offensive tackle Walker Little and many more.
