Five-star DE and Georgia commit Beal to visit Alabama

The prize of the Georgia Bulldogs No. 3-ranked recruiting class is no longer a solid commitment. Five-star defensive end and No. 4 overall prospect Robert Beal is set to make an official visit to Alabama this weekend with his parents.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound pass rushing specialist committed to Georgia over Alabama, Texas, Florida State and Notre Dame on July 5 in what was initially thought to be the final chapter in Beal’s recruitment and a huge recruiting win for Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart over former boss Nick Saban. Beal was once considered a lean to the Crimson Tide.

Now, the final chapter remains unwritten as Beal revealed Tuesday that he is planning to make official visits.

While Alabama will receive the first shot at flipping Beal, it will not be the only school to receive an official visit. The Under Armour All-America Game selection also plans to visit NC State, North Carolina, Texas and Georgia with the Bulldogs receiving the last official visit.

Georgia and Alabama's battle for the nation's No. 1-ranked defensive end could change the ESPN class rankings. Ohio State continues to hold onto the No. 1 spot followed by Alabama at No. 2 and Georgia No. 3.
