Point guard dominoes: UConn gets its man; Duke, UK expand options

Point guards and the recruiting dominoes that will fall because of them remain one of the most intriguing storylines in the Class of 2017. Recent developments have changed the landscape. What does it all mean?

What happened?

The biggest movement occurred on Monday afternoon, when Makai Ashton-Langford (No. 33 in ESPN 100) committed to Connecticut. Ashton-Langford narrowed it down to UConn and Providence, and he visited both schools in the last week. His official visit to Storrs occurred this past weekend and sealed the deal for the Huskies.

  • Earlier in the weekend, ESPN 100 point guard Matt Coleman (No. 27) added offers from Duke and Kansas. Neither school had made Coleman’s list of 10 schools from early August, but both the Blue Devils and Jayhawks are in the market for a point guard, and Coleman is one of the best available.
