A look at a few of this past weekend's biggest numbers:
• Last year, two teams made it to April before losing their first game. That won't be the case this year, as only No. 2 Oklahoma remains undefeated after the first week of March. After feasting on home cooking in their first nine games, the Sooners won five games away from home last week. Michael Rocha and Bobby Shore each tossed complete games over the weekend as Oklahoma won four games in California.
• Outside the Sooners, the hottest team in the country right now is Cal State Bakersfield. After dropping two of three games in their opening series against Washington State, the Roadrunners have won 10 straight games. The cherry on top was a 2-1 victory over No. 9 Arizona State on Thursday. Bakersfield faces four tough games on the road this week, heading to No. 22 Fresno State on Tuesday before a cross-country trip to No. 4 South Carolina over the weekend.
• UCLA aces Gerrit Cole and Trevor Bauer combined to toss 19 innings while striking out 25 batters and allowing just one run on six hits this weekend at Nebraska. For their efforts, neither pitcher earned a decision. All three contests in the series went to extra innings as the Huskers took two of three games from the No. 10 Bruins.
• Jason Van Skike tossed a no-hitter for Indiana State on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader at Central Arkansas. It was the Sycamores' first no-hitter since 1988. It wasn't the prettiest no-no, as Van Skike struggled with his control while allowing eight walks and hitting a batter while the Bears stranded runners on second and third each of the last two innings.
• After starting the season with back-to-back shutouts, Taylor Jungmann finally gave up a run in his third start. He also fell one out short of a complete game before picking up the victory as No. 13 Texas held off No. 19 Stanford for a 4-3 win.
• New Mexico State and No. 18 UC Irvine both entered the weekend undefeated on the strength of loaded offenses. Each suffered its first loss on Friday when its opponent was able to shut down the attack. New Mexico State was 10-0 and averaging 14 runs per game before dropping a 12-1 decision to San Francisco. Irvine won its first seven games while averaging nearly 12 runs before Saint Mary's shut out the Anteaters 1-0.
