Detroit Pistons starting point guard Reggie Jackson has spent the offseason strengthening his left knee due to lingering issues with tendinitis last season. Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy spoke to the media Tuesday and updated Jackson's status for the opening of training camp later this month.

Rumor Central

"He should be good to go for the start of camp," Van Gundy told the Detroit Free Press. "I don't think on the days we do two-a-days that we'll have him do two (practices), but other than that, the hope is he'll be ready to go. You never know, but he should be."

Jackson struggled last season, missing 30 games total -- 21 to start the season -- due to the knee issues and having a platelet-rich plasma injection to help with the problem. Jackson, who was shut down in March, has yet to be cleared for all basketball-related activities, but that could come soon.

"He really hasn’t done basketball work," Van Gundy said. "He has shot a little bit, but he hasn’t done much on the court so now he’ll be in that ramp-up phase to get going."

The Pistons hope Jackson's knee issues are in the past, as he's owed $51.8 million over the next three years. For 2017-18, Jackson will make $16 million.
