Rumor Central: Possibility of losing Kyle Lowry won't stress out Raptors president Masai Ujiri

Toronto Raptors starting point guard Kyle Lowry officially became a free agent last week by exercising the early termination option in his contract. Lowry can leave the Raptors in July for nothing, which would be a big hit to Toronto. With that said, president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri says he won't stress himself out thinking about what might happen in July.

"No, to be honest, it doesn’t," Ujiri told Sportsnet’s Tim and Sid Show on Thursday.

While Ujiri won't worry about his starting point guard leaving the team, he is planning to do everything possible to retain Lowry.

"What's my job? My job is to make it happen [re-sign Lowry]," Ujiri said. "Or my job is to figure it out, if it doesn't happen, where we go from here."

Ujiri added: "Kyle has decisions to make. We have decisions to make."

As an 11-year NBA veteran, Lowry is eligible to sign a five-year contract with the Raptors worth an estimated $205 million. If Lowry leaves, he can sign a four-year, $152 million deal with another team. At this time, most followers of the situation believe the Philadelphia 76ers, Lowry's hometown team, might be the biggest threat to the Raptors' chances to bring back the three-time All-Star.
