On Tuesday, there was a item from Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders claiming there have been trade talks between the Sacramento Kings and Miami Heat, which would send forward Rudy Gay and point guard Darren Collison to South Beach for point guard Goran Dragic.

Rumor Central

"Sacramento has to trade Gay," an NBA executive told Scotto. "He's already informed them he doesn't like it there. They can't let him walk for nothing."

Last month, Gay informed the Kings that he was planning to decline his 2017-18 player option, so he can be a free agent on July 1. He also told them he wouldn't mind a move out of Sacramento. There have been rumors for over year that Gay is on the trade block, but the Kings have been unwilling to deal him and that remains the case.

"We're thinking Rudy's a big part of this team to be successful, so we have decided to go with him, and if he decides to stay next year, that's great, and if he decides to leave that's fine, but we want to make sure we compete this year," Kings vice president of basketball operations and general manager Vlade Divac said earlier this month.

Asked about the Miami rumor, Gay told CSN California: "It is what it is, man, it's the NBA, it happens. Rumors are going to happen and you've just got to go out there and play basketball."

Collison, the Kings' starting point guard, will also be a free agent in 2017 and he could leave Sacramento for nothing in July, too.

According to The Miami Herald, the Heat have no desire to trade Dragic at this time. That could change though in a few months, if the Heat struggle to win games.

Dragic is signed through 2019-20 and is owed $70.2 million, which may be too much for several NBA teams.
