Wednesday's Blazers News: Why every player, including Lillard, should be shopped

Portland Trail Blazers assign Tim Quarterman to NBA Development League's Long Island Nets: Portland Trail Blazers rookie Tim Quarterman is headed back to the NBA Development League on assignment with the Long Island Nets the team announced on Thursday. Quarterman had two previous stints in the D-League with the Windy City Bulls where he averaged 9.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 7.2 assists in nine games. -- The Oregonian

Trail Blazers should be shopping Damian Lillard ... and everyone else: After watching the Sacramento Kings trade Boogie for magic beans, I couldn't blame any NBA owner for wondering what he might get for his star player. Which is only to say when it was reported that the Trail Blazers may (or may not) be shopping star guard Damian Lillard in front of the NBA trade deadline, I had one response. What are you waiting for? Lillard is a nice offensive player. He remains a defensive liability. Also, he doesn't make players around him much better. -- The Oregonian

Will the Portland Trail Blazers make another trade?: The Portland Trail Blazers already have made one substantial roster move this month, trading away well-liked center Mason Plumlee to the Denver Nuggets for Jusuf Nurkic and a first-round draft pick. But is that all president of basketball operations Neil Olshey has up his sleeve? -- The Oregonian

Lillard: Time to run or man up: This is an uneasy time for the Trail Blazers, who are a battered, bruised and beleaguered bunch as they head out of the All-Star break. A winter spent dealing with frustrating underachievement has been compounded by recent injuries to Evan Turner (broken hand) and Al-Farouq Aminu (knee sprain), and a nagging ankle injury to star Damian Lillard. And now there is the uncertainty of an approaching trade deadline that has already improved two of the teams in the playoff hunt with the Blazers. -- CSNNW.com

Battered Blazers search for winning formula: Last season, after the Trail Blazers came on with a rush down the stretch to win 44 regular-season games and reach the second round of the playoffs, general manager Neil Olshey was runner-up for the NBA's Executive of the Year Award behind San Antonio's R.C. Buford. If there were a booby prize for this season, Olshey would have an addition to his trophy case. Portland is the most disappointing team in the league, and it's not even close. -- Portland Tribune
