Thursday's Wizards News: Andrew Nicholson has impressed in the preseason

Andrew Nicholson makes some noise for Wizards with ‘a thousand moves,’ but few words: Washington Wizards Coach Scott Brooks recently described his versatile forward Andrew Nicholson as the “man with a thousand moves.” But Nicholson is not a man of a thousand words. “He’s very, very quiet,” Marcus Thornton said, expressing a sentiment that center Jason Smith, who spent the 2015-16 season as Nicholson’s teammate in Orlando, would back up. Nicholson, a 26-year-old native of Ontario, may not impress in postgame media scrums. His delivery can best be described as Belichickian. Even so, Nicholson has inspired more excitement where it matters the most for the Wizards — on the court. -- The Washington Post

Johnny O’Bryant makes strong case for roster spot with Wizards despite odds: Before the Wizards decided to sell their 2014 second-round pick to the L.A. Lakers, they had their eyes on several players who were snapped up before they chose 46th. One of them was Johnny O’Bryant, a 6-9 forward from LSU who had two qualities they coveted: Youth and size. -- CSN Mid-Atlantic

Brooks believes rest is key to success: The difference in tone with Scott Brooks in charge is felt already by the Wizards in a literal sense. There are no practices Wednesday or Thursday, after beating the Cleveland Cavaliers in a road exhibition on Tuesday night in Columbus, Ohio. This is an about-face of what John Wall and Bradley Beal had become accustomed to under then-coach Randy Wittman, who would've called at least one practice before Friday's preseason finale at home against the Toronto Raptors. -- CSN Mid-Atlantic
