Wednesday's Suns News: Earl Watson expects big future for Marquese Chriss

Phoenix Suns' Mehmet Okur now 'money' coach: Mehmet Okur is still 6 feet 11. He still has one of the purest shooting strokes that a big man ever has developed in the NBA. At 37 years old, Okur should still be playing. That was the plan, one planted in his head when Hall of Fame coach Jerry Sloan told Okur he could play until he was 45. Instead, Okur is sharing his knowledge, skills and good nature with the Suns’ youthful big men as he dips his toes into coaching. -- The Arizona Republic

Suns coach Watson: Chriss is going to ‘take an amazing leap’: The Phoenix Suns’ impressive preseason continued on Friday as they beat the Dallas Mavericks, 112-107. What was probably the most notable takeaway from the win was that with star Devin Booker and veteran Tyson Chandler sitting the game out, rookie Marquese Chriss had a chance to prove himself. And it prove himself he did. Suns head coach Earl Watson joined Doug and Wolf on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM on Tuesday to talk about the state of the Suns and the toughness and talent of his rookie big man, Chriss. -- ArizonaSports.com
