Wednesday's Wizards News: John Wall snubbed by NBA GMs, Scott Brooks not happy

Wizards’ preseason win over Cavaliers does little to mask deficiencies: It’s almost unfair to chart the differences between the Washington Wizards and the reigning NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers, but for the significant quarters of their preseason meeting Tuesday night, the disparity was on exhibit. While playing their starters and regulars, the Cavaliers operated in a rhythm that can only be achieved through time spent and hardships logged. -- The Washington Post

Scott Brooks can’t believe NBA GMs did not vote John Wall as a top passer: On Tuesday, NBA.com released its annual survey of the 30 general managers — and Scott Brooks wants a recount. Before his Washington Wizards faced the Cleveland Cavaliers in an exhibition game at Ohio State’s Schottenstein Center, Brooks learned about the poll that slighted his point guard John Wall. When I informed Brooks that Wall was not included as one of the top passers in the league, his reaction was a mix of disbelief, exaggerated for effect, and serious disdain. -- The Washington Post

Nicholson factors in Wizards' win: The Wizards drew level for the preseason with a 96-91 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night as Andrew Nicholson had another standout performance to lead them with a game-high 19 points. Nicholson, who also had a team-high 19 points over the weekend vs. the Sacramento Kings, shot 7 of 8 from the field. He made his only three-point attempt, went to the foul ine six times and grabbed eight ebounds for the Wizards, who are 3-3 with one game left before their regular season begins Oct. 27 at the Atlanta Hawks. -- CSN Mid-Atlantic

Key contributors remain out for Wizards: The final road game of the preseason is tonight vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers in Columbus, Ohio, for the Wizards, and they'll be out with Otto Porter and Jason Smith for the second game in a row. -- CSN Mid-Atlantic
