Thursday's Suns News: New offense installed so team will be more efficient

Phoenix Suns install new offense to be more efficient: Restoring 51 points per game with Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Knight and T.J. Warren back healthy creates instant offensive improvement for a Suns team that found 17 points per game from Devin Booker once he moved into a starting role last season. While training camp’s primary focus is defense, the Suns also remain creative in revamping their offensive system to take advantage of their guards’ strengths, be more efficient and maintain a pace that ranked second in the NBA after Earl Watson became interim head coach in February. -- The Arizona Republic

Eric Bledsoe slims down, stays strong: Suns point guard Eric Bledsoe’s physique always has been striking. Bledsoe remains as muscular as a 1968 Mustang but now also has some noticeable sleekness to him. Bledsoe said he lost 10 pounds during a late August/early September trip to coach at a Basketball Without Borders camp in Angola and volunteer for UNICEF, also in Angola. “When I got back, I was so skinny,” said Bledsoe, who said he entered training camp this week at 189 pounds. -- The Arizona Republic

Getting to know Phoenix Suns assistant coach Tyrone Corbin: One of the first things Earl Watson did after he was named the 17th head coach in Phoenix Suns history was hire a staff. He brought on board three former head coaches — two with NBA experience — plus a wealth of knowledge, both on and off the court, to complete the player development side of the organization. “Each coach we have here has a purpose,” Watson said. -- ArizonaSports.com

Rookies roll to Suns training camp with cute luggage: The Phoenix Suns headed to Flagstaff for training camp and Wednesday was all about the rookies. Day two of camp saw the rookies get their first welcome to the NBA. Dragan Bender, Tyler Ulis and Marquese Chriss, among others, now have cute luggage for their road trips. -- ArizonaSports.com

Alex Len, Archie Goodwin extensions appear unlikely for Suns: General manager Ryan McDonough’s habit of drafting Suns in or near their teenage years has its complexities. Part of that comes to a head this summer. Phoenix has until Halloween to extend the contracts of center Alex Len, 23, and guard Archie Goodwin, 22, the first two players McDonough drafted as an NBA general manager in 2013. -- ArizonaSports.com
