Kings Media Day Buzz: Ty Lawson hoping to rebuild image

The Sacramento Kings held their annual media day on Monday as they began preparations for their 2016-17 season. With training camp starting on Tuesday, here are a few notes from Monday:

New season, new Lawson: After a year in which he was arrested twice for DUI and went to rehab, lost his starting job with the Houston Rockets, and spent the final few games of the season mostly coming off the bench in Indiana, veteran point guard Ty Lawson is now in Sacramento on a one-year contract.

And as he shared with Michael Wagaman of the Associated Press, the 28-year-old former first-round draft pick intends to use the opportunity as a chance to rebuild himself -- on and off the court.

"Sometimes, an experience, you have to grow from it," Lawson said Monday. "I think I've grown a lot and I'm just ready to move forward. I heard a GM said, 'I think he lost a step. He can't shoot anymore.' I've got a lot to prove and I got a chip on my shoulder to prove it."

Rudy Gay feels "best he has in years": Gay had both shockwave and platelet rich plasma treatments on his Achilles over the summer, tweeted James Ham of CSN Bay Area. The veteran forward notified the Kings last week that he will be leaving for free agency next summer.
