Kings training camp roster breakdown

The Sacramento Kings open training camp with an 18-man roster. Out of this group, 14 players have full salary protection for the 2016-17 season, while one has some guaranteed money and the other three have non-guaranteed deals. Here is the breakdown:

Full Salary Protection: Arron Afflalo, Matt Barnes, Omri Casspi, Willie Cauley-Stein, Darren Collison, DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay, Kosta Koufos, Skal Labissiere, Ben McLemore, Georgios Papagiannis, Malachi Richardson, Garrett Temple and Anthony Tolliver

Partial Salary Protection: Isaiah Cousins

No Salary Protection: Jordan Farmar, Ty Lawson and Lamar Patterson

Roster Outlook: The main competition during the preseason will come at the third point guard spot between Farmar, Lawson and rookie Isaiah Cousins. When the Kings make their final cuts in late October, they will probably include Cousins, Patterson and either Farmar or Lawson. Cousins, at that time, will be designated to the Kings' D-League team, the Reno Bighorns.

2016-17 Salary Cap Outlook: The Kings, if they don't make a trade -- Gay or McLemore -- in the preseason, should enter the regular season over the salary cap by about $1.85 million and below the luxury tax line by $17.29 million.
