Former Hawks ownership sues insurance company over Ferry settlement: The Atlanta Hawks Basketball and Entertainment LLC, the former ownership group of the NBA franchise, has filed a lawsuit against New Hampshire Insurance Company for breach of contract involving the settlement of claims made by former general manager Danny Ferry. -- The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Schroder era about to begin for Hawks: Dennis Schroder, you’re up. For the first time in five years, the Hawks will open training camp with a new starting point guard. Schroder takes over the position after the team obliged the trade request of Jeff Teague and sent the five-year starter to the Pacers. The 28-year-old spent seven seasons in a Hawks uniform and was an all-star in 2015 after being selected with the 19th overall pick in 2009. Schroder enters his fourth NBA season after the Hawks took the German speedster with the 17th overall pick in 2013. The new era begins in less than two weeks when the Hawks open camp on Sept. 26. -- The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Hawks still looking to add to training camp roster: The Hawks continue to work out players in an attempt to add to their training camp roster. Former Lakers forward Ryan Kelly (Duke), former Grizzlies guard Xavier Munford (Rhode Island) and guard Dionte Christmas (Temple) recently worked out for the Hawks. Richard Solomon (California) is scheduled to work out this week. The Hawks have worked out many other players. -- The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Howard thanks those who helped during illness: Dwight Howard turned to social media to thank those who helped during an illness that required brief hospitalization. Howard fell ill on a plane flight from China to Atlanta Sunday night. The Hawks center went to a local hospital and was treated for dehydration.
