Tuesday's Pelicans Links: Training camp to be held at practice facility

Pelicans opt for Metairie over The Greenbrier for preseason camp: The New Orleans Pelicans will do plenty of preseason travel this fall. For training camp, they’re staying home. New Orleans will hold its camp at the team’s practice facility in Metairie rather than at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, where the Pelicans had camp last year. The decision is rooted at least in part in the Pelicans’ travel-heavy preseason schedule. -- The Advocate

NBA All-Star Game relocation a win for tolerance: Treating others kindly and respectfully, making sure people in their infinite variety enjoy equal rights, and preventing discrimination? These things should be their own reward. But if the prospect of a fairer, kinder society isn't enough, there are real-world benefits too. That much was clear late last week, when the National Basketball Association awarded next year's coveted All-Star Game to New Orleans, after having pulled the event from its original venue of Charlotte, North Carolina in response to that state's harsh new anti-LGBT law. -- The Advocate
