The Arizona Diamondbacks aren't in a rush to hire their next manager.

Rumor Central

In an interview with MLB Network Radio on Thursday, general manager Mike Hazen said the organization is currently working through a list of candidates and plans to examine each carefully.

"This is a critical decision and we're going to take our time and get it right," Hazen said.

Hazen said Arizona is looking for an "impact leader" who "is looking forward to" embracing baseball's evolution.

Boston Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo has been mentioned as the likely top candidate, as noted by ESPN's Buster Olney. Scott Lauber writes that it would be a "stunner" if Lovullo isn't Arizona's next manager. There's a Boston connection between Lovullo and Hazen, who was formerly the Red Sox's general manager.

Phil Nevin, the manager of Arizona's Triple-A affiliate in Reno, Nev., is another potential option, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports. The Diamondbacks also have interest in Atlanta Braves first-base coach Eddie Perez, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's David O'Brien.
