The saving grace Mexico can take from Wednesday's scoreless draw with Jamaica is that it could've been much worse. Jamaica had the clearest chances to score in front of less-than-full Estadio Azteca that ended up booing every El Tri touch and cheering when the visitors touched the ball. It was a bizarre scene and an unexpected blip from a team tabbed for big things in coming years.

The perseverance Jose Manuel "Chepo" de la Torre showed continuing with a 4-4-2 formation, with Oribe Peralta and Javier Hernandez, seemed to be the biggest hindrance. There is little evidence to suggest it is the path forward. With two strikers playing up front, El Tri has one first-half goal in the past six games. Wednesday's game again showed that, quite simply, the two strikers don't work well together.

But that wasn't the only thing that went wrong.
