Olympic gold medalist Jorge "Chaton" Enriquez has a trait that is impossible to teach, yet is vital for players hoping to reach the top of the game: He thrives on overcoming challenges.

So far in his fledgling career, the 22-year-old midfielder has been ticking them off one by one, from arriving alone at Chivas as a teenager to debuting for the Guadalajara club in February 2010 and securing a regular starting spot.

But it was in summer 2011 when Enriquez grabbed worldwide attention, first in the Copa America and then by putting in a string of quality performances in the 2011 U-20 World Cup in Colombia, where he won the Bronze Ball, given to the third-best player at the event.

European scouts took notice. And at 6-foot-3, with a shaved head (which he said he wears so his mother can easily recognize him on the field), everyone else did, too.

Equally adept as a defensive holding player as he is bursting forward, Enriquez was ranked No. 1 in our Top 25 Mexican U-21 prospects in December.

That decision was based not just on the fact he played a key role in helping Mexico to that gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics, but on his potential.
