Mexico qualified in first place from its group at the Olympic Games with an impressive seven points (of a maximum nine), but the players and coach all agreed after the win over Switzerland on Wednesday that nothing has yet been achieved. To consider their trip to Great Britain a success, Mexico needs to come away with a medal.

The path to that goal looks pretty favorable at this point, with -- arguably -- the three other best teams remaining in the tournament on the other side of the draw. In the quarterfinals, Mexico will face an upstart Senegalese team, needing only to beat the African third-place qualifier to get what would amount to two cracks -- a semifinal and gold or bronze medal match -- at that Olympic dream.
