• Champions Week goes to Vegas

When NASCAR announced that it was moving its season-ending awards banquet last spring there was (we can admit this now because it's clear that no one in New York cares that it's gone) a sense of relief. When the sport first moved its trophy ceremonies to the Big Apple in 1982, it was an effort to step into the big time. But after 27 years the shine was off said apple and it was time to look somewhere flashier.

Which, of course, means Las Vegas.
