• Early pace favors Heels

DETROIT -- The pace is really, really quick in the early minutes of the national championship game at Ford Field, which definitely favors UNC at this point. The Tar Heels had a 17-7 lead at the first media timeout with 15:24 to go. After losing by 35 points to UNC in the same building back at Ford Field, this wasn't the start the Spartans needed. UNC has made six of its first seven shots. UNC's Danny Green and Wayne Ellington have already knocked down 3-pointers. Michigan State goes with Travis Walton, the Big Ten Player of the Year, guarding Ellington. Sophomore point guard Kalin Lucas is trying to check UNC point guard Ty Lawson, the ACC Player of the Year, who seems to be much quicker. MSU senior Goran Suton is guarding Tyler Hansbrough, and Raymar Morgan is matched up on Green.
