• Quick start to the second half

DETROIT -- Michigan State clearly felt great at halftime, running up the Ford Field tunnel with a two-point lead while Connecticut walked back to its locker room. The Spartans got 11 huge points from Raymar Morgan and Korie Lucious in the first half but still had to think they left some points on the floor thanks to the 0-for-8 shooting of Chris Allen and Durrell Summers -- two of State's better shooters. If they heat up, UConn is in trouble. The second half has opened with more fast-paced basketball, as the Spartans have reinforced the fact that they are the one team that doesn't mind playing quickly in the slow-down Big Ten. The teams combined to score 18 points in the first four minutes of the half.
