DETROIT -- Tom Izzo played 11 guys in the first eight minutes. Jim Calhoun played six. We'll see whether the Spartans can wear down the Huskies with numbers, but so far quality is beating quantity by three, 26-23.
Michigan State has gotten a huge early lift from Raymar Morgan, who has steadily disappeared in the second half of the season after suffering mono and pneumonia. Morgan has seven early points.
But UConn is riding the broad shoulders of its interior tandem of Jeff Adrien and Hasheem Thabeet. Adrien has eight points and three rebounds, and Thabeet has seven points.
