DETROIT -- A few notes on the Tar Heels headed into the game: 1. A victory would give UNC its fifth NCAA national championship, moving it into a third-place tie with Indiana for most all time. UCLA leads with 11 and Kentucky has seven. A win would give UNC two national titles in five seasons, three in 17 years and four in the past 28 seasons. 2. A victory would make UNC coach Roy Williams only the 13th head coach in NCAA history to win multiple national titles. Of course, Michigan State coach Tom Izzo could join those exclusive ranks with a Spartans victory, too. 3. Either Izzo or Williams will become only the fourth active coach to win multiple titles -- Duke's Mike Krzyzewski (three), Connecticut's Jim Calhoun (two) and Florida's Billy Donovan (two) are the others. 4. A win would give UNC's senior class of Tyler Hansbrough, Marcus Ginyard, Bobby Frasor, Danny Green and others a total of 124 victories, the most by a UNC four-year class. 5. With 22 points against Michigan State, Hansbrough would move into third place in NCAA tournament scoring with 329 points. He currently sits in sixth with 307, one point behind Michigan's Glen Rice (308) and 17 behind Cincinnati's Oscar Robertson (324). Kansas' Danny Manning sits in third with 328, behind all-time leader Christian Laettner of Duke (407 points in 23 games) and Houston's Elvin Hayes (358).
