• Scary moment for the Spartans

DETROIT -- Scary moment for Michigan State, which has the early momentum and a 14-10 lead at the first media timeout with 14:27 to go in the first half. After the Spartans went ahead 9-2 on Raymar Morgan's hook shot, Spartans guard Travis Walton fell to the floor after colliding with 7-foot-3 center Hasheem Thabeet. Huskies guard A.J. Price drilled a 3-pointer while Walton was laying on the floor. Walton, a senior from Lima, Ohio, was the Big Ten defensive player of the year. He is guarding Price, the Huskies' leading scorer. The Spartans are getting excellent play so far from junior Morgan, who hasn't played very well since fighting a bout of mono and walking pneumonia in mid-January. Morgan has already scored five points on 2-for-4 shooting with one assist. He didn't score at all against Louisville in last week's Midwest Regional final. The Huskies have to find a way to get the basketball to Thabeet, who hasn't touched it much at all in the first 5½ minutes. Thabeet has yet to take a shot from the floor.
