• Bracket math: Crunching the numbers

Editor's note: This file was updated on Saturday, March 14, 11:59 p.m. ET.Time to sleep on our final evaluations. On the top line, there are five teams with legitimate No. 1 seed profiles. This means either Memphis or UConn will be a No. 2 seed (hardly the end of the world). At the cut line, I can make plausible cases for and against any of the seven teams hoping for what I think are three remaining at-large slots. I ultimately went with Saint Mary's over San Diego State for the last at-large based upon the Gaels' neutral court win over the Aztecs.Of course, that was a lifetime ago and the task for the Selection Committee will be to determine if that Saint Mary's team still exists. And Mississippi State could render the choice moot with a victory over Tennessee in Sunday's SEC championship game.
