After spending much of his offseason camping and playing in 7-on-7 tournaments with his teammates,
Antonio Crawford (Tampa, Fla./Plant) started to build interest and accumulate offers. But a strong performance at the Georgia Tech camp led to an offer late last weekend and Crawford acted quickly to become the Yellow Jackets' ninth commitment in the Class of 2012"Well when I took my visit there I really got a chance to establish a relationship with the coaching staff and I just liked everything about the campus from the academics to the city of Atlanta," Crawford said. "I'm ready to go there right now."The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder will be brought in to play cornerback. As a junior Crawford proved to be a dangerous player on both sides of the ball with 656 yards and seven touchdowns receiving, and 55 tackles and three interceptions on defense.Crawford had offers from Iowa State, Florida International, Ball State, Bowling Green and Ohio."I was actually just getting started with the recruiting as it was beginning to pick up this summer," Crawford said. "So I didn't have a top group or anything. Georgia Tech has everything I want in a program so I didn't see the need to wait any longer."Georgia Tech recently vacated their 2009 season due to NCAA infractions and are currently on probation, but Crawford says the program's future is bright."That is in the past and the coaches were honest about it and made sure that I knew the team can still compete for championships and play in bowl games," Crawford added.
