Three Midwest juniors --
Jonah Pirsig (Blue Earth, Minn./Area),
Jordan Diamond (Chicago, Ill./Simeon) and
Kyle Kalis (Lakewood, Ohio/St. Edward) -- have already emerged among the top offensive linemen in the country. The 6-foot-9, 300-pound Pirsig was on the varsity his sophomore season, but tore the MCL in his left knee and did not make it on to the field until the final two games of the season. He was a starter at both offensive left tackle and on the defensive line during his junior season."I have four offers now," he said. "I have Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ohio State. I went to an Iowa junior day. I'll probably go to Minnesota's junior day Feb. 20. I'm going to Wisconsin Feb. 19 and I'm going to Michigan State Feb. 26. I'll go out to Ohio State in the spring or for their spring game. Or I could wait and go to their camp in the summer."Pirsig said he is interested in all four schools that have offered him a scholarship as well as Michigan State, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Alabama. He says he has no favorites at this point. The 6-6, 290-pound Diamond has been a varsity starter since his freshman year. Last week he received a scholarship offer from Ohio State and is closing in on a dozen offers. In addition to the Buckeyes, Diamond's list of offers includes Michigan State, Michigan, Illinois, Kansas, Northwestern, Iowa, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Arizona and Eastern Michigan. Diamond said he is looking at everyone, but Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Tennessee and Alabama are his favorites right now.The 6-5, 300-pound Kalis had an overpowering junior season. The huge right tackle led the way up front for the Eagles' strong ground game as St. Edward rolled to the Ohio big-school state title and a final record of 15-0.In addition to being an aggressive and dominating run blocker, Kalis is outstanding in pass protection. He did not allow a sack his entire junior season. He had early scholarship offers from Ohio State, Wisconsin and Pitt before committing to the Buckeyes on Sept. 17.
