The recruiting process that defensive end
Deonte Gibson (Lakewood, Ohio/St. Edwards) thought ended during the summer when he committed to Pitt, finally ended on Monday night."I just committed to Northwestern about an hour ago," Gibson said. "The education really impressed me. And I liked hanging out with the players when I visited there."Gibson committed to Pitt during the summer, but opened the recruiting process back up when coach Dave Wannstedt resigned at the end of the football season.Gibson made an official visit to Cincinnati the weekend of Jan. 14 followed by an official visit to Northwestern this past weekend. He then let coach Pat Fitzgerald know on Monday night that he will sign with the Wildcats."He was happy," Gibson said. "He told me he's glad I finally made my decision and decided to play for him."The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder played a big part in his team winning the Ohio big school state championship this season and finishing with a 15-0 record. Gibson had 17 sacks. He also registered 12 sacks during his junior season.

Shane Wynn made official visits to Toledo this past weekend."It was great," Jones said. "I liked being on their campus, being around the students and all. I liked everything about it. They have a great young team. They are improving in wins every year."However, Jones did not commit to the Rockets. He plans to make an official visit to Ohio State this weekend. Jones has a scholarship offer from Toledo, but not Ohio State.The same goes for Sturdivant. He too has an offer from Toledo, but not the Buckeyes, and he too plans to make an official visit to Ohio State this weekend.Wynn also has a scholarship offer from Toledo and recently received a scholarship offer from Hawaii and plans to make an official visit there this coming weekend.
