Rarely does a long snapper attract the interest
Bryce Haynes (Cumming, Ga./Pinecrest) has this recruiting season, but the battle for Haynes has turned into quite a scrap between some outstanding college football programs.Haynes has made official visits to North Carolina, Notre Dame and Ohio State. He had a visit set to Arkansas the weekend of Jan. 14 and was also considering a visit to Michigan State. However, last week Haynes decided to take the Spartans off his list, and more recently has decided against visiting the Razorbacks."My understanding is he will cancel his Arkansas visit," Pinecrest coach Charles Wiggins said. "As of right now it's down to North Carolina, Notre Dame and Ohio State. Bryce met with Harvard (on Monday). I'm not sure what he is going to do there."Haynes has become a hot commodity over the past month. In the last 30 days he has picked up scholarship offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame and Michigan State to go with the offers he already had from North Carolina and Utah State. The 6-foot-4, 185-pounder, who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds, was Pinecrest's long snapper during both his junior and senior seasons. He also has played defensive end and receiver, but is being recruited specifically as a long snapper and is generally regarded as the best in the country at his trade."I know he really likes North Carolina," Wiggins said. "He was impressed with Notre Dame and Ohio State. He hasn't really expressed a favorite to me. I told him to sit down and make a list of pros and cons for each."

Kiaro Holts (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) committed to North Carolina in late June. However, some schools continued to recruit Holts during the football season and into December.Holts remained committed to the Tar Heals, but did not completely rule out making an official visit to a school or two other than North Carolina. In mid-December Holts said he was hearing from Auburn, Michigan State and Tennessee, and said there was a slight chance he would make an official visit to one or more of those schools. However, Holts said on Tuesday right before taking the field for an Under Armour All-American Game practice session, that his recruitment is over."I'm not visiting anyone else," Holts said. "Those other schools have stopped recruiting me. I'm set with North Carolina."
