Start with this theory: If you're going to concede points in one category to try to dominate others, it's best to forgo batting average. Why? It's the one category that still tends to be overvalued in many fantasy drafts. That's because even after all the statistical revolutions of recent years, most fans (and fantasy players) still rely on batting average as the most convenient shorthand for evaluating players.
