Recently acquired Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski didn't arrive a minute too soon for Dallas head coach Marc Crawford. The Stars' bench boss hasn't hesitated to lean on the former Penguin, giving him more than 27 minutes of ice time in each of the club's past two games. Goligoski is taking full advantage of the opportunity and is quickly making an impact in Big D.

Although you can't make too many judgments off a handful of games, the 25-year-old American seems like a real nice fit on the Stars' blue line.

On Monday night, Goligoski and his new teammates face another important challenge against the Kings in L.A. The Stars, who have rebounded from an ugly stretch in February, are 4-0-1 in their past five games. They currently stand seventh in the West, a point better than the eighth-seeded Kings.

I'll get bold and say that this Dallas-L.A. showdown could evolve into another of those dreaded "three-point" games that we've seen so often during the league's season-long parity party.

1. Captain FantasticCalgary star sniper Jarome Iginla hit a personal milestone in an unusual way Sunday night during the Flames' 3-2 victory over the Predators at the Pengrowth Saddledome. Iginla cracked the 30-goal mark for the 10th straight season when he deposited a second-period penalty shot behind Preds stopper Pekka Rinne.

The 33-year-old captain became just the 10th player in league history to record such a streak. Jaromir Jagr and Mike Gartner have the longest such goal-scoring runs, each netting 30 or more goals in 15 consecutive seasons. Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Hull and Phil Esposito each had 13-year streaks, while Marcel Dionne hit the 30-goal plateau in 12 straight seasons.
