Notre Dame seems to have fallen out of the running for Under Armour All-American Cyrus Jones. The athlete from Baltimore (Md.) Gilman said he will not take his official visit to South Bend, Ind., on Oct. 18, as previously planned."Me and my parents and my coaches talked about it, I wasn't too sure about the visit anyway," said Jones, who is No. 34 in the ESPNU 150. "I was just trying to use one of my visits to see. Just talking it over, I don't think it's the best place for me."When asked if Notre Dame's 2-2 start or the uproar over coach Brian Kelly berating his players on the sideline were factors in his decision, Jones said, "Not really."Jones will take an official visit to Alabama on Oct. 21 and Auburn on Nov. 26."After that I'm not sure," Jones said. "It's still up in the air right now as to where I'm going to go or even if I'm going to take all five of my official visits."Jones said he is considering an official visit to West Virginia, where he took an unofficial visit last weekend."It was good, just a great atmosphere overall," Jones said. "WVU has always been one of my favorite schools. I've been involved with them since my father went there. I've always followed them."It's good to see them get a powerhouse like LSU to come in there. Just the way the fans reacted the whole game. The atmosphere was crazy. Too bad it came out short. It was a great game I enjoyed it. I had a chance to talk to the coaches to talk about what position I'd be playing if I went there."Jones said Mountaineers coaches said he'd play slot receiver if he signed to play in Morgantown.Jones said he's also still interested in Maryland and Ohio State, two schools that he's taken unofficial visits to. Jones took an official visit to Virginia Tech on Sept. 17. Jones is also considering Virginia.
