Five things to watch this weekend: West Virginia at LSU
The Mountaineers have proven themselves formidable recruiters in their region. Not only do they have 19 commitments and one in the ESPNU 150, but they've also beaten recruiting foes Maryland and Marshall this season. However, neither of those victories will help West Virginia become a national recruiting power under first-year coach Dana Holgorsen. A win over No. 2-ranked LSU would.West Virginia will also have rare exposure for its program. ESPN's College Gameday will be in Morgantown, and several top junior and senior prospects will be on hand. The Mountaineers are underdogs and their entertaining offense will have a tough challenge against a top-flight LSU defense, but if West Virginia can pull out a victory, watch out on the recruiting trail. As for LSU, it seems Les Miles is always questioned in Baton Rouge. Fans and prospects would be left shaking their head with a loss on Saturday.Florida State at Clemson
Both schools are going to have magnificent 2012 classes. The Seminoles have 16 commitments with an unbelievable 10 in the ESPNU 150, while Clemson has 18 commitments and five in the ESPNU 150. The two teams rank second and seventh in the nation, respectively. However, let's look deeper. What if Clemson beats Florida State on Saturday? Suddenly, the Tigers will have beaten Auburn, the defending national champions, and a tradition-rich power on the rebound in Florida State.Think that will erase all doubts (for the time being) about Clemson coach Dabo Swinney's future after a 6-7 record in 2010?Clemson has almost everything to sway prospects -- a beautiful campus, tradition, talent, etc. It just needs more big wins. The Tigers have that opportunity this week.North Carolina at Georgia Tech
This is a battle for bragging rights in the ACC (that is still the name of it, right?), but it's also a chance for the Yellow Jackets to roll out the carpet for visiting prospects, namely Alex McCalister, a four-star athlete from Clemmons (N.C.) West Forsyth. The four-star McCalister projects to be a defensive end or outside linebacker in college. He is also considering Georgia, NC State, Florida and Notre Dame. ACC fans should be rooting for a good visit for McCalister so he doesn't end up a Gator or a Bulldog.Four-star Georgia Tech defensive end commitment Francis Kallon from Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett is also scheduled to visit Tech's campus, along with athlete Juwaan Williams from Tucker (Ga.) High.Georgia at Ole Miss
