ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The plays came fast and furious in the headline game of the Patriot Classic on Saturday evening. That's no surprise considering the talent that was on display.Dozens of Division I prospects -- one coach estimated that there were 20 D-I prospects on Good Counsel's roster alone -- were on the field as Olney (Md.) Good Counsel beat Baltimore (Md.) Gilman 26-21 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Here's a recruiting update on some of them:•
Dorian O'Daniel was once known as a good running back. He's now becoming known as a great linebacker prospect. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder started his second game at linebacker for Gilman and was a force as he and his teammates helped contain the Greyhounds' strong running attack."Right now I like my closing speed, but I'd like to get more physical," the junior said.Maryland, Pittsburgh, Ohio, North Carolina State, Virginia and Syracuse have all offered O'Daniel a scholarship. He said he's also interested in Florida, Clemson, Florida State, Oklahoma and Virginia Tech."I really like Virginia Tech," O'Daniel said.O'Daniel said no school is currently standing out from the pack. Even though he seems destined to stay at linebacker, O'Daniel still isn't completely sold on which position he'll play in college. "That's what my junior year for," the 6-1, 190-pounder said with a smile.• Tailback
Wes Brown said he's still open to all schools and perhaps more open-minded than ever because his favorite school, Miami, has been accused of wide-ranging NCAA violations."I'm just watching to see how it goes and what happens," Brown said of the developments in Coral Gables.Brown mentioned New Mexico, Penn State and Maryland as schools that could challenge Miami if the NCAA concerns continue to linger."Nothing but an education and where I can go where they'll take care of me if I get hurt," the three-star prospect said when asked what he's looking for in a college.• Linebacker
Reggie McGee's recruitment is starting to pick up steam. The junior recently received scholarship offers from Mississippi State and North Carolina State. More offers will surely be coming, but the Bulldogs and Wolfpack have made an early impression."Mississippi State, they're good," the 6-3, 195-pounder said. "They took a loss [against Auburn] but they're good."On NC State, McGee said, "I'm still looking into them."• Junior cornerback
Kendall Fuller said he's still working on being consistently intense during games. Colleges don't seem to see problems in his game. The 5-11, 180-pounder already has 11 scholarship offers -- from Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Boston College and NC State.Fuller said no school stands out from the rest."A lot of schools," Fuller said when asked who he is considering. "I haven't really narrowed my list down because I haven't visited any schools yet." Fuller's ascension as a top-flight cornerback prospect has surely benefited from practicing against Diggs."It definetely helps," Fuller said. "We've got to go out on one-on-ones everyday and make each other better."
