Before players such as Freddie Freeman, Eric Hosmer, Dustin Ackley, Ben Revere and Jason Kipnis emerged in the majors this season, they served notice that they were just about ready in the AFL last year. Similarly, players such as Mike Stanton, Buster Posey and Jason Heyward used AFL time as a springboard to the majors a year earlier. AFL alumni have won 20 Rookie of the Year awards. That makes the seven-week season a must-follow for prospect hounds.

If history is any indication, approximately 60 percent of those players on the rosters for the 20th-anniversary season of the Arizona Fall League, which starts Tuesday, will eventually make the big leagues.
