Of course, that's easy to say after the guy just posted a 54-homer season. But I did write about the changes in his swing back on May 24. A sample of what I wrote:
- When we look at a player making a big improvement, the first thing we have to do is see what's different about the player that could indicate something other than just a hot streak or a statistical anomaly based on sample size. I see a changed hitter who has a good chance to keep putting a charge in the ball in the next few months, even if it's not necessarily at a pace of a homer every 14 plate appearances.
