Kicking the football may be what Connor McDavitt (Holden, Mass./ Wachusett Regional) does best, but his contributions aren't limited to that phase of the game. The 5-foot-7, 145-pounder also plays running back, slot receiver and returns kicks for Wachusett Regional, which capped a 13-0 season by beating Holy Name in the 2009 Central Mass. Division I Super Bowl. McDavitt is the No. 13-ranked prospect from Massachusetts, but he'll also have the opportunity to play college baseball. He's a centerfielder and leadoff hitter for the Wachusett Regional baseball team."If I have the opportunity, I would like to play both [in college]," said McDavitt.McDavitt, who also won the Central Massachusetts indoor track championship in the 55-meter dash (6.77 seconds) and the 55 hurdles (7.98), is being recruited by primarily New England schools. Holy Cross and New Hampshire are the FBS schools that have shown the most interest. Holy Cross is also recruiting him to play baseball.McDavitt comes from a family of kickers. His father punted for Division III Amherst College, and his brother was a punter for Division III Tufts.McDavitt was named the top performer at the Eastern Showcase Camp at East Stroudsburg University last May. He recorded 13 touchbacks last season."My strength is probably my placekicking and kicking off," he said. "I've been working on my punting this summer."I probably won't make any college decisions until after the football season. I still don't know if I want to stay local."
