Junior DE Lochlin Deeks (Salem, Ore./West Salem) is a relentless competitor who loves to get after the quarterback and the 6-foot 4, 245-pound second-year starter is quickly becoming a defensive force in the Oregon high school ranks."Lochlin has good size and a tremendous amount of untapped ability," said West Salem coach Shawn Stanley. "He has a non-stop motor and is always going to keep clawing and fighting. I look for him to continue to mature both mentally and physically over the next two years."Deeks is being recruited by Arizona State, Oregon, Washington, Stanford, UCLA and Florida State. "My grandfather played at Washington before his pro career, so the Huskies are very special to me," said Deeks. His Grandfather, Don Deeks, played for the Washington Redskins and Green Bay Packers in the late 1940s. Yet to receive any offers, Deeks looks to schedule visits to the Pac-10 schools that are interested in him.Currently playing on both sides of the ball, Deeks would prefer to play defensive end at the college level.Oregon OT leaning towards YaleDeeks' teammate, OT Carl Kreitzburg has no trouble making the transition from honor student in the classroom to hard-nosed player on the field. The 6-3, 260-pound lineman is known to his teammates as a smart and intense individual."Carl is without a doubt one of the toughest players I have ever coached," said Stanley. "He possess great balance within his skill set, and is constantly in the weight room improving his core strength."Kreitzburg has already received an offer from Yale and is being courted by Oregon, Washington, Stanford, Colorado, Harvard and Princeton. "I'm leaning toward Yale at this point in time," says Kreitzburg. "I have been very impressed by their coaching staff."He plans on visiting Oregon, Stanford, Harvard and Princeton.
