For the past several years the NBA draft has been replete with terrific young point guards -- making this a bit of a golden era for young NBA point guards.
In the past four years the NBA draft has produced a whopping 17 starting point guards: Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, John Wall, Ricky Rubio, Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, Brandon Jennings, Ty Lawson, Jrue Holiday, Darren Collison, Brandon Knight, Jeff Teague, D.J. Augustin, Jimmer Fredette, Iman Shumpert and Mario Chalmers.
Rose already has won an MVP award. Westbrook is an All-Star. Wall, Rubio and Irving, in particular, have the potential to become All-Stars. Guys like Jennings, Lawson and Holiday might just get there, too. And in Charlotte, rookie point guard Kemba Walker is just biding his time to make his mark.
Alas, all good things come to an end. Brace yourself for a point guard famine this year.
