Sunderland made its presence known at Eastlands and withheld critical points from Manchester City for the second time this season. Entering the match, City had trailed for a total of 81 minutes all season in league play, but found itself behind for 52 minutes Saturday before salvaging a point.
Surprise results all over the Premier League had title race and relegation implications Saturday -- with an American presence felt as well.
• Manchester City conceded just four goals in its previous eight Premier League games leading into Saturday's clash with Sunderland. Including Saturday's 3-3 draw, the two have combined for 22 goals in their last six EPL meetings (an average of 3.6 goals per game).
• The draw ended Manchester City's 20-match EPL home winning streak and prevented it from matching the longest home winning streak in English top-flight history. Liverpool won 21 consecutive league matches at Anfield between January 1972 and January 1973.
• Fernando Torres found the back of the net for Chelsea for the first time in league play since Sept. 24, 2011. His stoppage-time goal snapped a streak of 17 hours and 15 minutes without scoring in the Premier League, the longest stretch of his career.
• QPR's home win over Arsenal gave a huge boost to their survival chances, as their relegation percentage drops from 61.3 percent to 46.1 percent, according to ESPN's Soccer Power Index. SPI now slots QPR and Blackburn in a dead heat, with each team's average finish in the Premier League table projected at 17.3 from 10,000 simulations.
• American Clint Dempsey scored for the seventh time in his last nine Premier League matches for Fulham. The native Texan trails only Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie in league goals scored since the beginning of 2012. Meanwhile, fellow American Eric Lichaj scored his first Premier League goal in a 4-2 defeat for his club Aston Villa.
