In Barcelona's 5-3 win over Granada, Lionel Messi tallied a hat trick, adding to his ever-growing pile of records and numbers.

• In his eighth season with Barcelona, the 24-year-old Messi has set the Barcelona record with 234 career goals, passing Cesar Rodriguez, who had 232 from 1939 to 1955.

• Messi now has 54 goals in all competitions for Barcelona this season, setting a record for any La Liga player. Messi has 34 league goals and 12 Champions League goals, looking to top that competition for the fourth straight season. He's also scored the Spanish SuperCopa (three goals), Copa del Rey (two), the Club World Cup (two) and the UEFA Super Cup (one).

• With those 34 league goals, Messi matches the club's single-season record, set by Ronaldo in 1996-97 and matched by Messi himself in 2009-10.

• Messi has now scored in seven straight games for Barcelona and eight straight games for club and country combined. Both streaks are two games shy of his personal best, set in October and November of 2010.

• The hat trick was Messi's 18th with Barcelona and 12th in league play. He has six in La Liga this season, tying him with Cristiano Ronaldo for most by any player in Europe.
