Newcastle drew Manchester United 1-1 on Saturday, leveling the match on a controversial penalty in the second half. Here are five notes on the action at Old Trafford.
• Mexican forward Javier Hernandez scored the first goal, the fourth time this season he has opened the scoring, tied with Mario Balotelli and Rafael van der Vaart for most in the league. It was the sixth Premier League goal of the season for Hernandez, but this was his first at Old Trafford. In his two seasons at United, he has five goals in 16 home games, compared to 13 goals in 22 away matches.
• Though the draw will feel like a loss, Manchester United does remain unbeaten in 28 straight home games against Newcastle. But United has already dropped five points at home this season, after dropping only two all of last campaign.
• Newcastle remains winless at Old Trafford since 1972, but earning a point and scoring a goal both are significant progress. Newcastle had been shut out in four of its last five games at Old Trafford, and had lost five of its six previous visits.
• With his penalty in the 64th minute, Demba Ba scored his ninth goal of the Premier League season, tying him with Wayne Rooney for fourth in the league. Ba now has 47 percent of Newcastle's 19 goals this season. Only Robin van Persie, with 13 of Arsenal's 25 goals entering Saturday (52 percent), has a higher percentage of his team's tallies this season.
• In this calendar year, Ba has a total of 16 Premier League goals. Only van Persie (31 entering today) and Rooney (19) have more in 2011.
