Los Angeles defeated Houston 1-0 to win MLS Cup 2011. Here are five notes on the confetti-filled proceedings at The Home Depot Center.

• Los Angeles become the sixth Supporters' Shield winner to win MLS Cup, the first since Columbus in 2008. The Galaxy became the second club to win three MLS titles, joining D.C. United, which has four championships.

• The final score was fittingly 1-0. All three of the Galaxy's MLS Cup wins have been by a 1-0 score, with the previous two coming in extra time against New England. Including the playoffs, this was the 11th 1-0 win by Los Angeles this season.

• Landon Donovan extended his own records with his fourth career MLS Cup goal and his 20th career playoff goal. Donovan was named MLS Cup MVP for the second time (also in 2003), joining Dwayne De Rosario as the only players to win that honor twice.

• Bruce Arena became the first coach to win three MLS titles, adding this year's crown to the pair he won with D.C. United in 1996 and 1997. He joins Sigi Schmid as the only coaches to win a title with two different teams, as Schmid won with Los Angeles in 2002 and with Columbus in 2008.

• Injured playmaker Brad Davis was sorely missed in the Houston midfield. The seven Dynamo players who saw time in the midfield combined for three successful crosses, one less than David Beckham had by himself. Speaking of Beckham, if he is indeed done with the Galaxy, he will go out on a high note for the third straight time, as he also won a league title in his final season with Manchester United and Real Madrid.
