For weeks leading up to the BCS title game, most of the talk was about the cutting-edge offensive minds of Chip Kelly and Gus Malzahn. The over/under was set at a robust 74 points. Turns out, they were both upstaged by Auburn defensive coordinator Ted Roof and his fierce run defense.
Under the direction of Roof, a guy who went 6-45 in his stint as Duke's head coach, Auburn was able to contain a rushing attack that had overwhelmed almost everyone it faced prior to Monday night.
