Tucker almost never misses on Monday Night Football

Justin Tucker made all three of his field-goal attempts, providing the winning margin for the Ravens in their 23–16 home win over the Texans on Monday. Tucker has been successful on 95.2% of his three-point tries on Monday Night Football (20-for-21; the only miss was blocked by the Patriots last season.) The only player with a higher such percentage (minimum 20 attempts) was Eddie Murray, who finished his career 23-for-24 (95.8%) on the program.

Harbaugh’s teams dominate at home under the lights

After their win over the Texans, the Ravens are 12–1 in home night games in 10 seasons under head coach John Harbaugh. Harbaugh’s only loss under the lights in Baltimore was by a score of 13–10 to the Steelers in 2010. The only time since 2008 that the Ravens allowed more than 20 points in a home night game was in a 31–30 win over the Patriots in 2012.

Drummond dominates Celtics

Andre Drummond finished with 26 points on 10-for-12 shooting (83%), 22 rebounds, and six assists in the Pistons’ 118–108 win at Boston. The last NBA player to compile at least 25 points, 20 rebounds, and five assists while also shooting 80% or better from the field was the 76ers’ Charles Barkley (41 pts, 22 reb, 5 ast, 13-for-16) against Portland on Nov. 30, 1988. No player in Pistons history had ever put up that kind of line, and the only other individual ever to have a game like that against the Celtics was the Bullets’ Wes Unseld in Baltimore on Jan. 31, 1970 (26 pts, 23 reb, 7 ast, 12-for-14.)

Harden does more in the first quarter than most players do in a game

James Harden scored 20 points, collected five rebounds, and handed out four assists in the first quarter of the Rockets’ 117–103 win over the visiting Nets. No NBA player had matched Harden’s totals from Monday night in points, rebounds, and assists in any quarter since Denver’s Ty Lawson finished the third quarter with 24 points, five rebounds, and four assists against the Timberwolves on April 9, 2011.

Oladipo starts hot versus former team

Victor Oladipo made his first 11 shots from the floor against his former team, a total that included four three-pointers, in the Pacers’ 121–109 win over the visiting Magic. The last NBA player to start a game with a streak of more than 10 straight field goals made while attempting at least four shots from behind the three-point line during that streak was the Rockets’ Chandler Parsons (first 11 FGA, including 5 3-pointers) against the Mavericks on March 3, 2013.

Williams scores 42 against his former team

Lou Williams scored 42 points in the Clippers’ 120–115 win over the Lakers. It was Williams’s third career 40-point game, with the previous two coming in a Lakers uniform in calendar year 2016. The only other players to score 40+ points in a game at least once both for and against the Lakers are Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Adrian Dantley, Gail Goodrich, Shaquille O’Neal, and Nick Van Exel.

Kings end their streak of futility in Oakland

Bogdan Bogdanovic scored the game’s final four points over the last 12.6 seconds as the Kings defeated the Warriors, 110–106 in Oakland. Golden State, which played without Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant Monday, had won its previous eight home games against Sacramento, all by margins of more than 10 points. That was the longest such streak by any NBA team over another since the Jazz won eight straight games against the Bucks in Utah by 11+ points from 2005 to 2013.

Connaughton performs when in the starting lineup

Pat Connaughton, starting his fourth career NBA game (1 in 2016–17, 3 this season), made seven of nine shots from the floor in the Trail Blazers’ 103–91 win at New York. In those four starts, Connaughton has made 67.9% of his shots from the floor (19-for-28.) That’s the third-highest percentage by any Portland player over his first four NBA starts. The two players ahead of him attempted far fewer shots: Ha Seung Jin (4-for-4 in February 2006) and Jeff Ayres (7-for-8, 87.5% in January 2010.) Neither Ha nor Ayres ever started another game for Portland.

Aldridge joins Spurs royalty with 30/10 against Mavs

LaMarcus Aldridge scored 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Spurs’ 115–108 home win over the Mavericks. The only other San Antonio players ever to finish a regular-season game against Dallas with at least 30 points and 10 boards were David Robinson (13 times) and Tim Duncan (8.)

Sixers starters are cold from downtown

The 76ers’ starters, “led” by Robert Covington’s 0-for-9, combined to make just one of 18 three-point shots (5.6%) in Philadelphia’s 113–91 home loss to Cleveland. That was the worst-ever three-point percentage by the Sixers’ starting five in a game in which they combined to take at least 15 shots from behind the arc. Philadelphia starters’ previous worst long-distance percentage had been 6.7% (1-for-15), done three times, most recently last February at Orlando.

Luongo earns 200th win with second franchise

Roberto Luongo recorded his 200th career win for the Florida Panthers with a 3–2 victory against the Devils in Newark on Monday. Luongo won 108 games during his first stint with the Panthers, from 2000–01 through 2005–06, and he’s posted 92 wins since he was reacquired by Florida from the Vancouver Canucks in March 2014. Luongo, who racked 252 wins during his eight seasons with the Canucks, is the second goaltender in NHL history to register 200 or more wins for two different clubs. The first was Patrick Roy, who won 289 games for the Montreal Canadiens and 262 for the Colorado Avalanche.

Crosby makes OT history for Pittsburgh

Sidney Crosby tied a Penguins team record when he scored in overtime to earn Pittsburgh a 5–4 win against the Flyers on Monday. It was the 11th regular-season overtime goal for Crosby in his NHL and Penguins career, tying the franchise record set by Mario Lemieux and previously equaled by Crosby’s teammate, Evgeni Malkin. Only six players besides the Penguins’ trio have scored at least 11 regular-season overtime goals for one NHL franchise: Alex Ovechkin (Capitals 20), Patrik Elias (Devils 16), Daniel Sedin (Canucks 15), Mats Sundin (Maple Leafs 14), Sergei Fedorov (Red Wings 12) and Shane Doan (Jets/Coyotes 11.)

Youngster DeBrincat notches hat trick for Chicago

Rookie Alex DeBrincat notched his first NHL hat trick by scoring three goals for the Blackhawks in their 7–3 win against the Ducks. The 19-year-old DeBrincat is the first teenager to record a hat trick in an NHL game this season and only the second teenager ever to do so for the Blackhawks. The first was Jeremy Roenick, who was also 19 years old (but four days younger than DeBrincat’s age as of Monday) when he scored three goals for Chicago in a 7–5 win at Toronto on Dec. 23, 1989. There were six hat tricks by teenagers in the NHL last season: three by Patrik Laine, and one each by Auston Matthews, Connor McDavid and Sebastian Aho.

Another impressive win for Price

Carey Price, who recorded a 36-save shutout victory against the Sabres on Saturday, made it two wins in two games since returning to action after a three-week injury absence by making 37 saves in a 3–1 victory over the Blue Jackets on Monday. This is only the third time in Price’s 11-year NHL career that he’s posted two consecutive wins while making at least 36 saves and allowing no more than one goal in each game. He also did that for the Canadiens in October 2013 and October 2016. The only NHL goaltender besides Price to win back-to-back games this season in that fashion is the Blue Jackets’ Sergei Bobrovsky (Oct. 10–13).

Three Jets notch three points in win

Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler and rookie Kyle Connor each tallied one goal and two assists in the Winnipeg Jets’ 7–2 victory against Minnesota. Scheifele and Wheeler have each recorded at least three points in a game five times this season, tying Steven Stamkos and John Tavares for the NHL high. Connor’s three-point game was the first of his NHL career and the first by a Winnipeg rookie this season. Patrik Laine had five such games as a rookie for the Jets last season.
