The Florida Panthers made a huge splash in free agency, reeling in Keith Yandle in a trade with the New York Rangers. They signed goalie James Reimer, and filled out their defense with the addition of Jason Demers at a reasonable price.
Free agency is fun, but most impressive was the Panthers keeping one of their own, signing franchise defenseman Aaron Ekblad to an eight-year contract worth $7.5 million per season. It wasn't cheap, but it was the most important deal Tom Rowe made in his first offseason as general manager.
