The Pac-10 is the top conference in the final edition of the ESPN conference power rankings. The lowest spot it held all season in our rankings was No. 2, which lasted for just one week.

The ACC passed the Big Ten for the first time this season, although it was by less than one point.

The Big 12, ranked No. 2 in our rankings, ended up with the most NCAA tournament bids (eight) out of all of the conferences. The Pac-10 and SEC each placed seven teams in the tournament, meaning that the only Pac-10 team that didn't get in was No. 78 Oregon State. Conference USA, the highest ranked non-BCS conference in our rankings throughout the season, earned five spots, giving it more teams in the tournament than the Big Ten or ACC (three teams each). While the ACC and Big Ten each had an average RPI that was more than 20 points better than Conference USA, there were more quality teams at the top of Conference USA than there were in the ACC or Big Ten.
